We tested Chez Philou in Cagnes sur mer and were thrilled with the results.

They have a large parking space just outside and automatic gates that can be shut after the last guest arrives to ensure security.

They have 2 options available for birthdays and events. The first is a smaller room suitable for 10-15 children maximum. This had specific seating which is aimed at performances where the children sit and watch such as a clown or magician show. There is a little dance floor area where the kids can let of steam and this is where you would also do the gouter. With a little toilet at the back, kitchenette with fridge, you have everything you need to run a small party.

There is a second and much larger hall available for hire and this is the one we opted for to host our “Days gone by” birthday party.

This room can actually seat over 100 people for a wedding or event and so was plenty big enough for our 20+ excited 5 year olds. There is a good kitchen area, a cloak room, toilets, tables and chairs for any grown ups and of course the children’s gouter and a great size dance floor where you can organise games or just boogie on down!

There is even a beautiful little garden which we could have spilled out into .. perfect for those wedding photos ..we decided to stay indoors given it was the end of November as we didn’t want any angry mums!

In summary Chez Philou has everything you need for the perfect party: plenty of space and also a really nice feel about the place .. and our feedback from family and friends was that this venue is excellent.

The real bonus is that after the last child has left you have a quick tidy up and then you can get back to the comfort of your house safe in the knowledge the little monsters have not run riot.

SERVICE : For both these options, Mr Philou will be on hand to work the lights, do the music and generally oversee things. The cake and gouter and animation is down to you although the have numbers they can recommend. FINANCIAL TIP: Hiring a hall doesn’t necessarily come cheap and indeed this hall was larger than we needed. With a little planning we could have asked the teacher for names of kids with birthdays around ours and thrown the party all together …sharing the fun, the work and the costs!
